Dyslexia Support with Sue

Website Design, Brand Design

Sue Flohr MBE is a UK-based dyslexia specialist with over 30 years of experience supporting individuals with dyslexia across all age groups

Only having her bio featured on directories, Sue had no existing website, or brand identity, and was in need of an online space where she would be able to provide more information on her offerings.

The aim was to create a simple identity that was straight to the point and would emphasise Sue’s specialist support. The D and S initials of ‘Dyslexia Support with Sue’ are used to create an icon that resembles a brain, with one half of the brain being flipped to represent the difference in the processing of the right hemisphere in a dyslexic brain.
Researching fonts, it was import to choose a sans-serif font that was clean and well-spaced so that it would be dyslexia-friendly.

It was important that the website would also be appropriate for the target-audience, using pastel backgrounds (cream, pastel blue) in the background - with a high-contrast colour to ensure the text would remain legible.

The website involves straight lines, clearly splitting up sections. Text is paired with images to help to communicate the copy and maintain a website that isn’t too text-heavy.
